Matthew Byng, Dip in Person-Centred Counselling, MBACP (Accred), EMDR UK Accredited Practitioner, Dip in Counselling Supervision.
I have counselled clients in a wide range of different setting from treatment centres to schools, from prisons to GP’s surgeries, and also in private practice.
Whether I’m working as a counsellor or EMDR therapist, I believe that when offered the right non-judgemental, empathic and authentic conditions, we will find the answers to the problems and challenges that we face.
At the core of my counselling practice is the relationship within which healing can take place.
At the centre of EMDR is the ‘standard protocol’ that combines recalling the traumatic memory with bilateral stimulation. Togther these free the brain so that it processes traumatic feelings that may have remained alive and powerful for decades after the event that gave rise to them.
I taught the Counselling Level 4 at Stroud College for 1o years, leaving in Summer 2019. I am especially familiar with the needs of students as they start their counselling practice, balancing the demands of college attendance, written work, client work, their jobs and home lives!
As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I am bound by the BACP’s Ethical Framework.
